This is post-number one on our Party of Seven Farm blog. Probably at some unknown point in history, I’ll scroll back to this post and compare where we are to where we were. Today, as I consider what would be a good first post, I feel that it would be most important to begin with the most important, the nearest and dearest.
This picture right here represents the things that are most important to me, my family. Oh, I probably don’t always put them first or consider their needs over mine…but I should. The five males you see there are the reason for my gray hair. They’re the reason my head hurts sometimes. They sometimes make me question my sanity. They’re also good motivation for me to keep my nose clean and try to stay on the ‘straight and narrow’. I’m proud of these boys. They eat a lot, they play hard, and they can work hard too. And they’re kind and good-looking…just like their old man.
That pretty girl on the right, she’s pretty special to me too. She’s my best friend and I’d be lost without her. We’ve been married forever and I wouldn’t want it any other way. The Lord has blessed us with 5 great sons, and a family that supports us in our ambitious endeavors.
So this picture here is by far the most important thing to me. This picture was taken by our fire pit on Christmas morning 2023. We’ve made a lot of good memories around this fire pit. We celebrated Wyatt’s graduation from high school around this fire pit this past spring. We grilled sweet corn here this past summer and this past fall…we made ‘campfire apple butter’ for the first time.
